About Me
I have been a full-time mathematics instructor at Indian River State College since August 2016. This is truly my DREAM job! I am so grateful to get the opportunity to transform lives through supportive, high-quality education. I value my students as the individuals they are and want to see them be successful and reach their goals. Being an active member of the college and the community, I serve as the MAT 1033 Intermediate Algebra Course Lead, am on the Focus Group Committee, participate in research and grants such as the Achieving the Dream Every Learner Everywhere Adaptive Learning Grant, volunteer for the local Ride for the Fight Charity, etc.
I obtained my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Secondary Mathematics Education from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas in May 2016. While there, I was privileged with the opportunity to teach gateway mathematics courses from August 2014 to 2016. I also conducted research to hone in on my expertise and passion of fostering a growth mindset in students to improve success. This made for an exquisite start to my career, as I gained valuable skills, knowledge, and professional connections within the field.
I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education from Troy University in Alabama. While there, I competed for 4 years on the Troy University Rodeo Team and served as the Women’s Captain and Assistant Coach. I completed my internship at Zion Chapel School in Jack, Alabama where I taught grades 6 through 12 mathematics, along with Advanced Placement courses for college credit.
I currently live in Okeechobee. I enjoy competing in rodeos, going to the beach/on the boat, and being with family. I have two dogs, Mindy and Charlie, that are my babies!
With a growth mindset, I believe EVERYONE can be successful. Perseverance and dedication are key!
Teaching math is my passion and I look forward to a great semester!
